The open space is to the left of the box. Nothing gives it a job.
A — arrow in left pocket, "the 48" stays right
Amber arrow → "forwarding / sending it on"
"the 48" box stays right. Arrow occupies the dead space left of it, pointing right.
Reading: Clean. The arrow gives the space a job without fighting the wordmark. Reads as "forwarding / sending on." Slightly literal — depends on how illustrative we want to go. Works well reversed on dark.
B — "the 48" moves left
"the 48" anchors under the start of UTSID
Big open space to the right. Asymmetric — interesting until you fill the gap (see C + D).
Reading: The right gap reads as accidental emptiness here. But the left position works — box sits snugly between O and the UTSID run. Needs the right side filled to resolve.
C — "the 48" left + arrow spanning right
Strongest "breaking out / crossing" concept
"the 48" boxed left (contained, left behind); big arrow crossing right (escaping it).
Reading: Most conceptually charged. "The 48" is the thing being crossed / left behind; the arrow is the break-out. Could be brilliant or could read as generic "delivery arrow." This needs premium execution — a thin, precise, confident line, not a fat logistics arrow.
D — "the 48" left + plane in open space
Amber plane, slightly nose-up — "crossing the Pacific"
Same layout as C, plane instead of arrow. Warmer + more specific. Rougher at this stage.
Reading: The most illustrative direction — carries warmth and the "crossing" idea concretely. This SVG path is rough; the final mark would need proper vector craft. But the concept is strong. Could pair with a dotted flight-path line from the box to the plane.
D — on dark photo
Plane variant reversed out on Hawaii hero
The amber plane pops well against the dark. The on-dark requirement is met.
E — "the 48" moved up under UTSID
Box pushed high — more compressed, more contained
The big space below reads as intentional breathing room. "The 48 is captured inside / named."
Reading: The box feels more attached to UTSID — like a badge or caption right underneath, rather than floating below. More compressed. The space below is now large and airy, which could work well at small sizes. Could combine with an arrow below the box in that large space.
