Terms & Conditions

The rules of using Outside the 48. Last updated 16:44 Sun 19 Apr 26.

Draft. These terms are still being finalised and will be reviewed by a lawyer before public launch. They describe how we intend to operate but do not yet form a binding contract.

1. What we do

Outside the 48 provides a package-forwarding service from an Oregon, USA warehouse to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, and (on request) other destinations worldwide. You order goods from US retailers using the Oregon address we give you; we receive the package, weigh and photograph it, and forward it to your real address.

2. Your account

3. What we will forward

Ordinary consumer goods that are legal to export from the US and legal to import into your destination country. We do not forward:

4. Charges

5. Damaged or lost packages

6. Returns

If you need to return an item to the US retailer, we can do it for you: print a return label, drop it at the carrier, and refund you the service fee component minus the re-handling fee of $5. Retailer refunds go back to your original payment method; we don't hold your money.

7. Cancellation and closure

You can close your account at any time from your profile page. Any packages still at the warehouse will be forwarded or returned to sender at your choice.

8. Liability

Our maximum liability for any single package is its declared value, capped at $500. We are not liable for consequential loss (e.g., a delayed gift, a missed occasion).

9. Changes to these terms

We'll email you 14 days before any material change. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

10. Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be handled in the English courts unless local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
